Business Insurance & Coronavirus
As business owners ourselves, we understand you may already be experiencing lost income from business interruption and are wondering if your Business Insurance policy provides coverage for these losses.
It is currently the shared opinion within the insurance industry that obstacles to the COVID-19 crisis exist within insurance policies, with regard to specific events that trigger coverage and virus exclusions. Certain initiatives at the state level as well as legal actions have already begun to address these obstacles.
The specific terms and conditions of each business insurance policy can vary. Your property insurance policy may contain coverage for Business Income, Extra Expense, Civil Authority and/or Contingent Business Income.
Can I File a Claim?
While we cannot guarantee coverage for your loss and do not want to foster false expectations, we can assist you in filing a claim with your insurance carrier and will guide you through your claims’ resolution.
In order to file a claim, it is important to make sure your loss is well documented including:
- information on the amount of the loss, (be sure to retain all records related to loss of income and any expenses incurred to keep your business operational)
- the nature and location of the event (i.e. project shutdown, closed store, etc.)
- and other critical details supporting your claim.
