At the Awards Ceremony held at the Longwood Best Western adjacent to Children’s Hospital, Judy Mahoney the Nurse Manager for the Infant Toddler Surgical Unit presented Bob with the Award and delivered a touching speech. Mahoney said, “On Sunday mornings Bob arrives before the day shift on 10 East bringing his big smile and his banter of humor, he is Irish so he can’t help that and then he is ready for a little one: the loudest or more irritable getting the first ride down the hall. and walk they do with Bob, all over the hospital, returning them sound asleep and the next one is off for their adventure. He remembers them all by name and they remember him. They never cry with Bob; his open, honest, happy face resonates with them. They reach up their little arms to him even if they are being held by their special nurse, because Bob is always more fun! It is impossible to believe that Bob has come to volunteer at BCH for over 25 years, his kind and giving spirit has helped so many of our little ones and their families. He has given us all gifts that can never be repaid, a gift of his time, his friendship, his humor, his special spirit which is Bob. Bob is a Star, a Hero, a Legend, as all of you in this room are each day, not only for our patients, their families but for the staff as well. Thank you Bob for all that you do!”
Bob plays Santa for the children every holiday season. He was named the 2007-2008 Quality Performer of the Year by JN Phillips Auto Glass and 890 AM ESPN in Boston. He walked the red carpet with other stars at the ESPY awards at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
Bob is an amazing person and all of us at McSweeney & Ricci couldn’t be more proud of all his accomplishments. Congratulations Bob!
